Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov (Arkhangelsk, Russia) and The Open University (Milton Keynes, UK) with the support of the British Council will hold a joint seminar “Contextualizing Research on Sustainable Development: Strategies to Bridge the Gap Between Theory and Practice”
The seminar overview: Sustainable development as the search for a balance in the development of environmental, human and economic resources in the Arctic and subarctic regions has recently become a pressing matter. However, our knowledge of this matter remains rather fragmentary because it derives from different disciplines that do not necessarily interact with each other. The seminar aims to bridge this disciplinary gap. Its goal is to bring together British and Russian researchers from different disciplines and to support creating joint interdisciplinary research projects in the field of sustainable development in the Arctic and subarctic regions.
The seminar will be held online and take place on February 23 - 26, 2022.
The seminar target audience: young researchers who study problems of sustainable development of the Arctic and subarctic regions, holding a PhD (kandidat/doktor nauk) or having relevant research experience.
The seminar aim and objectives: The seminar will stimulate further interdisciplinary research collaboration between participants from the UK and Russia. Cooperation will take the form of international educational visits, joint publications, the launch of new interdisciplinary projects, and proposals for joint funding.
Participation in the seminar is based on applications.
Seminar application must be submitted in English and include the following components:
• Motivation Letter (not more than 250 words)
• CV (not more than 250 words)
• A brief description of research area (not more than 150 words)
Application deadline: February 14, 2022.
